How is therapy at The Mind Space personalized to my needs?
Every therapy session at The Mind Space is tailored to your specific therapeutic needs and goals. We take the time to understand your unique situation and create a treatment plan that best supports your journey. Our therapist is committed to adapting their approach to ensure you receive the most effective and meaningful care.
     
Do you offer reduced rates or sliding scale fees?
Yes, we are committed to making therapy accessible to everyone. We offer a sliding scale fee based on the honour system, ensuring that cost is not a barrier to receiving the support you’re seeking. Your therapist will ask you during your intake appointment which price-point you chose.
Your first appointment will always be the lowest price on the sliding scale, the current sliding scale rate is between 100-175$ per hour.
     
Do you accept insurance?
Currently, we do not accept insurance. However, we understand the importance of accessible care, which is why we offer competitive pricing and a sliding scale fee structure. This ensures that everyone, regardless of their financial situation, can access quality mental health care.
     
How do I book an appointment?

Booking an appointment is just a few clicks away! You can schedule an appointment directly through our JaneApp online system, where you can choose a time that works best for you. You can also contact us, we’ll help you set-up a time.

We aim to make the booking process as simple and convenient as possible.

     
What can I expect during my first appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to share your story.

It’s also an opportunity for us to get to know you and for you to share your expectations. We’ll discuss your goals, any concerns you may have, and outline how therapy can help. We’ll also review any consent and confidentiality, and intake forms with you. This appointment sets the foundation for a therapeutic relationship built on trust and understanding.

     
How long are appointments?

We offer flexible appointment lengths to suit your needs:

  • Free 15-minute consultation: This is a brief, no-cost appointment designed to give you an opportunity to meet with a therapist to discuss what kind of therapy you’re looking for, to learn more about your therapist and the approach they take in therapy, and to determine if we’re a good fit for your therapeutic journey.

  • 60-minute appointment: Our standard therapy session length, ideal for ongoing work on your goals and concerns.

  • 90-minute appointment: A longer format for those who prefer extended time to dive deeper into more complex themes or who find a longer appointment better suited to their needs.

Each appointment is tailored to ensure you get the most value from your time with your therapist.

     
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

We understand that life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee. If you cancel within this timeframe, you will be charged your full appointment price. Our cancellation policy is detailed in our consent form, and is designed to be fair while ensuring we can continue offering flexible scheduling to all clients.

  1. Contact your therapist as soon as possible by phone or e-mail to notify them of any changes to your scheduled appointment.
  2. Please be aware of our cancellation policy: appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a cancellation fee.
  3. Your therapist will work with you to find a suitable alternative appointment time, if necessary.
     
How do online therapy appointments work?

We’ve simplified our processes to make your experience as smooth as possible. From easy and secure online booking through our JaneApp online system to flexible appointment options, we aim to make mental health care convenient and stress-free.

Who typically seeks therapy at The Mind Space?

Our clients range from young adults to older individuals, each seeking support for a variety of issues. Common concerns include managing anxiety and/or depression, navigating relationship difficulties, wanting to learn more about yourself, and coping with major life changes.

How do you protect my privacy and confidentiality?
Your privacy is our top priority. We adhere to strict confidentiality guidelines, ensuring that all personal information and therapy sessions are kept completely private. Our consent form outlines our commitment to safeguarding your information.
     
What qualifications does your therapist have?

Our therapist is a highly trained professional with a strong academic background and extensive experience in mental health. He holds a college certificate in General Social Sciences, an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology with a minor in Criminology, and a Master’s in Education, specializing in the Psychology of Counselling. He is also certified by The Mental Health Commission of Canada as a facilitator of The Working Mind – First Responders.

Additionally, he is currently a registered psychotherapist qualifying as per the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario standards, ensuring the highest level of professional practice. His commitment to continuous professional development ensures he provides effective and up-to-date therapeutic techniques.
