We invite you to join us in embracing the healing power of nature. Whether you are seeking relief from stress, looking to boost your mood, or simply wanting to enhance your overall well-being, nature prescriptions can be a valuable addition to your mental health toolkit.

Which is why we are thrilled to announce that Anthony Girard has been accepted into the PaRx program! This innovative initiative aims to harness the power of nature to improve mental health and well-being. By integrating nature prescriptions into our therapy sessions, on an as-needed basis, we can offer our clients a comprehensive approach to mental health that leverages the scientifically proven benefits of spending time in nature.

Integrating Nature Prescriptions at The Mind Space

At The Mind Space, we believe in a comprehensive approach to mental health. If given a PaRx prescription, clients will be encouraged to spend time in parks, forests, and other natural settings as part of their treatment plans. This can include activities such as walking, hiking, birdwatching, or simply sitting and enjoying the natural surroundings. We understand that every individual’s journey to mental wellness is unique, we’ll work closely with clients to tailor nature prescriptions to their specific needs and preferences.

Research has consistently shown that spending time outdoors can significantly reduce stress, anxiety, and depression while boosting mood and overall mental well-being. The natural world offers a wealth of therapeutic benefits that complement other mental health treatments, making it an ideal addition to our range of services.

About PaRx

PaRx, also known as the Park Prescription program, was established to encourage healthcare professionals to prescribe time in nature as part of a comprehensive treatment plan. The program is backed by extensive research demonstrating the positive impacts of nature on mental health, including:

  • Reduced Stress: Spending between 20-30 minutes in green spaces can significantly lower cortisol (stress hormone) levels, helping to alleviate stress.
  • Improved Mood: Nature exposure is associated with increased feelings of happiness and well-being. In fact, 9 out of 10 Canadians reported feeling happier when they’re more connected to nature.
  • Enhanced Cognitive Function: Being in nature can improve attention, memory, and overall cognitive function.
  • Physical Health Benefits: In addition to mental health benefits, nature exposure can lead to better physical health outcomes, such as improved cardiovascular health and lower blood pressure.

PaRx prescriptions give you access to offers through PaRx partners. It may also provide you with a free Parks Canada Discovery Pass (subject to availability).
